Sound Builders: Ranjit Bhatnagar Builds Us a Keycordian
Posted by Motherboard on Monday, Jul 19, 2010
We selected 3 of our favorite Sound Builders, and commissioned them to do works specifically for the show, be sure to see Felix Thorn’s creation, too.
In Episode 9 of Sound Builders, we hang out with Ranjit Bhatnagar at his studio in the headquarters of Brooklyn hackerspace NYC Resistor (we also made a documentary about them last year).
Each year, Ranjit dedicates the month of February to building 28 instruments in 28 days. But it was June, so he slapped together one of his other amazing hybrid instruments. Watch in wonder as Ranjit strips down an accordion, rips up an old toy piano, and hotwires them into a bizarre and beautiful keycordion. We made that name up.
