Andreas Scheiger ‘Papercuts’
Posted by MikeGusto on Thursday, Mar 11, 2010
Through clever use of materials, Andreas Scheiger’s ‘Papercuts’ posters have an innovative sense of depth and character that suits the prominent artistic figures he renders. The images of David Byrne and T.C. Boyle, brought to life with corrugated cardboard, become even more interesting when combined alongside their corresponding negative image. Scheiger’s ‘Papercuts’ do the iconic figures they depict justice by manipulating simple materials in a clean, and minimalist fashion.

A friend of mine used to make art this way. I remember seeing it for the first time and thinking how simple and genius the idea is. I've also seen people use the corrugation at different angles to take this idea one step further.
