13 Cent Bike Repair
Posted by Redalurk on Thursday, Jan 21, 2010
Mohammed of Kenya has taken manufacturing of sophisticated bikes into his own hands. He has built his own tool that realigns the spokes in bike frame tires. He has also built a tool for unlocking jammed cog-teeth beside the wheel. People in America often deal with the same issue of their frames bending or mangling and often take the bike to a bike shop and are over charged for the repair service. If we had more people creating innovative, effective, and cheap tools money could be saved and independent skilled workers will be supported. Many of the repair services Mohammed offers will run you 10 Kenyan Shillings, which is around 13 US cents.

If you had a few bikes that needed word, it might be cheaper to fly them over than take them to a shop in NYC.

Genius. He could put some bike shops out of business.
