Ok, well maybe not yours _specifically), but the weight of the whole internet has been calculated at 1,098,868,920,000 pounds. I am no expert, but that sounds heavy.

The number includes the 570,937,778 computers online (They estimate 88 pounds per computer, i.e. monitor, printer, and other peripherals. Sounds high, since my Mac Book weighs under 10, and I don’t think my charger is 78 pounds, but in theory this is averaging in my grandma’s desktop computer from 1997 along with printer, etc, as well as all those big sciency computers in labs and such, so let’s just assume they did their research), as well as 175,480,931 servers, an estimated 100 million smart phones and other wireless handhelds, the 9,320- mile transatlantic cable connecting us all, and (drumroll please) it all comes out to 1,098,868,920,000 pounds.

To put that number in perspective, that is equivalent to approximately 78,490,637,100 miniature poodles (like the dorks that came up with the weight of the internet, I overestimated the weight of these pups at 14 pounds instead of the 4 or so they average. Figured I would include all of their clothing and accessories), 91,572,410 monster trucks, 109,887 houses, or 19 times the weight of the American people (it was a rough estimate: 304,059,724 people in the US according to the Census Bureau, women average 162.9 pounds, and men average 220 pounds…so I averaged 190 pounds per person)!!!

This seems a bit high, but lets not forget that we are not including all of the computers that we have thrown away over the years that are now floating in the Pacific ocean or sinking into the soil of Chinese villages, killing fish and children.

So, there you are, people. The internet officially weighs over ONE TRILLION POUNDS. Crazy.

I still think that's a rather high estimate of the average computer weight. I can't think of any computers in the last ten years that weigh that much and any older than that are not connected to the internet.
